Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2024

Hey There

Look, we get it - privacy policies can be a total slog to read through. But here's the thing: we actually care about how your info gets handled, so we're gonna lay it all out in plain English. No corporate jargon, no weird legal gymnastics. Just straight talk about what we do with your data when you reach out to us or visit our site.

What Info We Collect

When you fill out our contact form or shoot us an email, we're collecting the basics - your name, email address, phone number if you share it, and whatever details you tell us about your project. We might also grab some technical stuff like your IP address and browser type, but that's just standard website analytics to help us understand how folks are using the site.

If you're just browsing around checking out our portfolio? We're not really collecting much beyond those basic analytics. We're not tracking your every move or building some creepy profile on you - promise.

How We Use Your Information

Pretty straightforward here. When you contact us about a project, we use your info to... well, contact you back. Revolutionary, right? We'll respond to your inquiries, send you project proposals, schedule meetings, and keep you updated on your architectural work.

The analytics stuff helps us figure out which pages people actually look at and whether our site's working properly. Sometimes we'll use it to improve the user experience - like if everyone's bouncing off a certain page, we know something's not working.

We might occasionally send project updates or studio news if you've worked with us before, but we're not gonna spam you with weekly newsletters or anything annoying like that.

Who We Share It With

Short answer? Almost nobody. We're not selling your email to marketing lists or anything shady. Your project information stays confidential within our studio team.

There are a few exceptions though. Sometimes we work with consultants - structural engineers, landscape architects, sustainability experts - and they'll need certain project details to do their job. We also use standard tools like email providers and cloud storage, so technically those companies have access, but they're all bound by their own privacy agreements.

If there's a legal requirement - like a court order or something - we'd have to comply with that. And if someone buys our firm (not planning on it, but you never know), your info would transfer to them.

Cookies & Tracking Stuff

We use a few cookies to keep the site running smoothly and to understand visitor patterns. Nothing invasive. We're using Google Analytics to see what's working and what isn't. If you want to block cookies, go ahead - your browser settings can handle that. The site will still work fine.

We don't do retargeting ads or any of that follow-you-around-the-internet stuff. If you leave our site, we're not chasing you down.

How Long We Keep Your Data

If you become a client, we'll keep your project files and contact info for as long as legally required - usually around seven years after project completion. That's partly for legal reasons and partly because sometimes people come back years later asking about their original drawings.

If you just sent an inquiry but didn't move forward? We'll probably keep that for a year or so, then clear it out. No point hoarding old emails forever.

Your Rights & Choices

This is your data, and you've got rights. If you want to see what info we have on you, just ask. Want us to correct something? No problem. Want everything deleted? We can do that too, as long as we're not legally required to keep it.

If you're in Canada, you've got specific rights under privacy laws like PIPEDA. In BC, we also follow provincial regulations. Basically, you can access your personal info, request corrections, and withdraw consent for how we use your data (though that might limit our ability to work with you).

Just shoot us an email at studio@jadecrestvalquinth.info if you want to exercise any of these rights. We'll handle it within a reasonable timeframe - usually within 30 days.

Security Measures

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information. Our website uses SSL encryption (that's the little lock icon in your browser). Email correspondence goes through secure servers. Project files are stored in password-protected cloud systems with regular backups.

That said, nothing's 100% secure online. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If there's ever a data breach, we'll let you know promptly and tell you what happened.

Third-Party Links

Sometimes we'll link to other websites - maybe a manufacturer's site for a building material, or a consultant's portfolio. Once you click those links, you're on their turf and their privacy policies apply. We can't control what they do, so check out their policies if you're concerned.

Changes to This Policy

We might update this policy from time to time - especially if laws change or we start using new tools. When we do, we'll update the date at the top. If it's a major change, we'll probably send an email to past clients. Otherwise, it's on you to check back occasionally.

Questions or Concerns?

If something in here doesn't make sense, or you've got concerns about how we're handling your information, just reach out. We're happy to talk through it.
